Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, SouthBlrBoy. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Invenio Origin, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

Hello,
Thank you for your comment, I deeply appreciate it. How can I establish that I am not connected to the subject of the article? The most there is to be disclosed is that they are a second degree connection (hence an organisation that I know of, and hence, the judgment that such an organisation must have a wikipedia page so a neutral, consolidated view of them can be found online which would be useful for a large number of people searching about them - also considering there will be many others contributing to this page/making changes in the future, ensuring this isn't a one sided view of them). I have so far never met/interacted/transacted with the subject. I understand this does not rule out a future such possibility. So request you to kindly guide me on what procedure to follow - should I play it safe and declare COI anyway though there is no conflict far as I am aware?
Thanks! SouthBlrBoy (talk) 08:11, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @SouthBlrBoy. If there is no conflict of interest we can take your word for it and you don't have to do anything. Thank you for letting us know. Qcne (talk) 08:13, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! SouthBlrBoy (talk) 08:21, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe there is a case of mistaken identity. A user on IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help was asking for help with this draft and also explained that they were one of the founding directors of Invenio. Since you were the only contributor to the draft, I guessed you were both the same person. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 19:20, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's interesting. No, I have had no interaction/connection with Invenio Origin so far. I'm glad/relieved we stand clarified. SouthBlrBoy (talk) 12:48, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
