License tagging for Image:Davy and Leo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Davy and Leo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:06, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Scancoaches.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Scancoaches.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Stephane Sarrazain, Monte Carlo 2005 Hello, and thank you for your contributions on articles related to rallying. I'd like to invite you to become a part of WikiProject World Rally, a new WikiProject aiming to improve coverage of World Rally Championship and related articles on Wikipedia.

As you can see from the image on the left, we haven't achieved a four-wheel-drive yet. If you would like to help out and participate, please visit the project page for more information. Thanks, Prolog 04:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for creating this article. I have to admit it was something of a shock to realise it wasn't there already, though what absolutely amazes me is that we have nothing at all on British Rally Championship! I suppose it just goes to show how many gaps there still are in Wikipedia's motorsport coverage... on which note, if you're interested there's a WikiProject:British Motorsport as well as the excellent rallying project Prolog mentioned above. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Poh.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Poh.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Helicopter picture on Ambulance[edit]

Hi there, just a quick reply. The main reason i changed it was simply for reasons of composition when it's a thumbnail. Your photo has quite a poor contrast between the helicopter and the ground when at small size. The photo i've inserted instead gives a much clearer picture at that size. I have no particular attachment to the picture i've used, it was just the best of the pictures on commons. There is a secondary reason around it being an action shot, which i generally prefer, but composition is the main part. For the same reason, i'm looking for a better picture of an ambulance to replace the mexican one! Hope this help you understand the change? Owain.davies 16:03, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

B) However, I took some pictures of it that show it better, and will be adding at least one to the page sometime in the near future.

First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. KrakatoaKatie 21:19, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Freebird (film), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.freebirdmovie.com/synopsis.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:10, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Freebird (film)[edit]

A tag has been placed on Freebird (film) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Re: Dunoon[edit]

It was news at the time. Its (sic) now time to move on. Isn't that contrary to Wikipedia's Notability is not temporary guideline? And as for it causing heartache to the family... Wikipedia isn't the primary source here. - Dudesleeper / Talk 13:14, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just because the BBC reported it on their website does not make it anymore noteworthy. A search of the BBC website finds other fatal RTA's in the area. No single vehicle RTA should be in an encyclopedia.
Quote from the same Wikipedia Notability section that you mention above:

"Wikipedia is not a news source: it takes more than just a short burst of news reports about a single event or topic to constitute evidence of sufficient notability. The Wikimedia project Wikinews covers topics of present news coverage."

scancoaches (talk) 13:31, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again, Wikipedia isn't the primary news source here. - Dudesleeper / Talk 13:36, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
On top of that, perhaps, per your claim, we should put up Category:Road accidents by country for deletion? - Dudesleeper / Talk 13:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again, same quote from 'Notability Section.

"Wikipedia is not a news source: it takes more than just a short burst of news reports about a single event or topic to constitute evidence of sufficient notability. The Wikimedia project Wikinews covers topics of present news coverage."

scancoaches
All of this category involve major incidents OR well known 'victims', not a single vehicle RTA that had a 'short burst' of news reports at the time. As I also mentioned, a search of the BBC news website reports other fatal accidents in and around Dunoon, should we include those too? scancoaches (talk) 14:07, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I can't keep up with your changing reasonings. I suggest you put it up for discussion on the Dunoon talk page. As I have in the past, I'll happily bow to consensus rather than an individual's personal opinion. - Dudesleeper / Talk 14:11, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Mayhaps you've seen too many cars driving off the end of piers in Dunoon, resulting in Navy helicopter rescues, to deem it notable. If you say it's a regular occurrence, then I'll have to take your word for it. I won't lose any sleep about its non-inclusion in the article. I was told about the incident when I was there in August and was surprised I hadn't heard about it. - Dudesleeper / Talk 00:12, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
