Conflict of interest?[edit]

This page was created by Jet556, who claims to be related to Tom McCarthy, and many of their past edits were primarily posting seemingly personal/unsourced information about his family, with most of the public and professional information about him being posted by other users. In fact Jet556’s first edit when they created the page had this:

“Tom McCarthy(1934-1992) was the best hockey player for the detroit red wings.”

While this page was made a long time ago and many of Jet556’s edits were removed(save for the mention of Tom McCarthy’s family that is still on this page) and it isn’t absolute that a person can’t edit pages about their family members, the fact that Jet556 created this page simply claiming that Tom McCarthy was the best player for the Detroit Red Wings and mostly made edits referencing his family members seems like it might be a case of this. If this has already been discussed and addressed then that is fine. I was just wondering if it was addressed and accepted as a page or if it’s a case of Conflict of Interest that simply went unnoticed or unreported, and if it’s the latter, then what should be done about this page. As anyone could figure out the claim that he was the best was made when I was younger. As for references to family, that would be made by someone who actually is related to the person in question. No source is needed, especially since such information would not be available on any hockey site. The fact is there was no conflict of interest, I was simply interested in adding my relation's article to Wikipedia. The page will stay and there will be no discussion about it.
