Paul A. Cameron ASC (born May 30, 1958) is a Canadian-born American cinematographer and television director.[1] He won the BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography (shared with Dion Beebe) for his work on Michael Mann's film Collateral (2004), along with two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his work on the HBO series Westworld (2016-22).

Biography[edit]

Cameron was born in Montreal, and was raised in New York City.[2] He studied at the State University of New York at Purchase.[2] He cites Gordon Willis as one of his primary influences.[2]

Cameron's visually groundbreaking work as a director and a director of photography has helped shape the craft of cinematography in the 21st century.

Cameron recently directed multiple episodes of “Special Ops: Lioness”, created by Taylor Sheridan for Paramount+, as well as multiple episodes of HBO’s acclaimed “Westworld” series. Previously, Cameron lensed “Reminiscence”, starring Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson, “21 Bridges”, and “The Commuter”, starring Liam Neeson. His other DP credits include: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”, “Man on Fire”, “Déjà Vu”, “Collateral”, “Dead Man Down”, “Total Recall”, “Swordfish”, and “Gone in Sixty Seconds”, among others.

Cameron is on the Board of Governors for The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has won Clio, Emmy, AICP awards as well as a BAFTA, and is represented by DDA.
