MullinerChâssis n° BC14LELEn octobre 1955, la Bentley Continental était proposée sur le tout nouveau châssis de la série S, synonyme de performances faciles et de grande distinction, dès sa présentation sur le châssis série R en 1952. Le nouveau châssis à caisson de la série S intégrait des freins et une suspension améliorés, ainsi qu'une version portée à 4 887 cm3 et donc plus puissante du moteur à admission au-dessus de l'échappement existant. La Continental avait un taux de compression plus élevé, un radiateur plus court, un rapport de pont plus élevé et, au moins pour un temps, était proposée avec une transmission manuelle à main droite.Rolls-Royce avait prévu de commercialiser la Continental uniquement en deux portes, mais, fin 1957, la décision fut prise de lancer la production d'une version quatre portes carrossée par H. J. Mulliner. Dévoilée avec la Continental série S et connue sous le nom de Flying Spur, cette version était le fruit d'une collaboration avec le bureau de style intégrée de Rolls-Royce H. J. Mulliner et ressemblait fortement à la fois à la Continental deux portes et aux berlines quatre portes existantes sur châssis Rolls-Royce et Bentley (hors Continental). Aux qualités d'allure et d'élégance de la Continental, la Flying Spur ajoutait la facilité des quatre portes, une intérieur plus spacieux et un coffre généreux. Arborant toute la splendeur des grandes routières d'avant-guerre, la Continental Flying Spur coûtait 7 994 livres en 1957 – soit quelque 44% de plus que la berline de série tout acier ou encore trois le prix d'une maison moyenne au Royaume-Uni. La possession de ce qui était alors l'une des voitures les plus chères et les plus exclusives de son époque était réservée à une poignée de riches connaisseurs.Le numéro de châssis BC14LEL a été livré neuf aux États-Unis où son premier propriétaire était un certain Paul V. Shields de Southampton, dans l'état de New York. Plus récemment, la Bentley a été importée au Royaume-Uni où elle a été complètement restaurée, y compris la réfection du moteur, un nouveau faisceau électrique et une peinture argentée. De plus, l'intérieur a été regarni en cuir brun, tandis que le ciel de toit et les boiseries ont été rénovés. Au début de 2014, la Bentley a bénéficié d'un nouveau travail de rénovation par le très respecté spécialiste de la marque West Hoathly Garage Ltd, concernant la transmission, la direction et le système d'allumage (voir les factures au dossier pour un montant de 7 348, 89 livres). Décrite comme en bon état général, la voiture n'a pas été utilisée depuis que ces travaux ont été entrepris et est prête à reprendre la route. Cette magnifique Bentley Continental Flying Spur est vendue avec les factures mentionnées ci-dessus, la copie de la fiche de châssis et son titre de propriété américain.
